Nollywood Spoof Competition Is Back!

Am sure you're all wondering what this is all about. Well, my little sister, Kiki with her guy friends, M.Y, Terdoh, Zubby and TBH (yea....she's the ONLY lady amongst men), who are movie-freaks, have a movie review blog called "Sodas & Popcorn". They watch the movies first and give you their review so you'd chose to either spend your money going to the cinema or just watch the movies on your or another person's! They watch the movies so you (don't) have to.

I'm here to promote a Nollywood Art Competition supported by them. It starts from June 23rd to August 4th, 2013. For those who don't know "Nollywood", it's our own Nigerian Hollywood...Naija's Film Industry. Check out the full story from the S & P crew:

M.Y: Hey guys!!! How are you all doing this evening. I am so excited today. You know why?

Leslie: Because I am here with all my awesomeness????

M.Y: Awesome kini? Abegi shift jare!!! It's that time of the year again. The Nollywood Movie Spoof Competition is back!!!

Leslie: Last year was so awesome. I mean check out the few entries from last year we have posted in here.

M.Y: So Leslie, as the organizer of this event, tell us a few things about the event.

Leslie: So, basically, The Nollywood Movie Spoof is an annual contest of parody & spoof designs done by amazing designers all-over Nigeria (and the world), making light jokes at Nollywood movies and its famous celebs. It is sometimes taken beyond Nollywood celebs but....

M.Y: Seriously, it's all jokes and laughs here.

Leslie: Yeah, we don’t want no lawsuits or people walking up to us in the streets like it’s our fault or anything.

M.Y: No guys seriously…it’s just jokes.

Leslie: Okay?

M.Y: Okay…Seriously.Its.All.Just.Jokes

Leslie: So basically, the Competition started like most terrible ideas; among friends. We all shared a clear distaste for the quality of many Nollywood movies.

M.Y: We figured if they couldn't listen to us when we spoke, then they’d listen better when we designed. The competition is just 2 years old and last year we had well over 40 entries.

Leslie: So this time we’re trying to make it bigger. Here’s the catch. Turn on your laptop, Double Click on your favorite Adobe Designing tool, Take a poster, make a Nollywood spin of it, and be creative about it. Impress us with wit, awesomeness, and a few clicks and drags.

M.Y: It’s really not too much to ask for, is it?

Leslie: So the big question is this: How do I enter the Competition right? Simple. Follow the link. Then Like the page (if you no like am, OYO) and submit your application

M.Y: Application? Is it JAMB. LOL. Submit your designs and invite your friends to like the page and like your design.  The event runs from June 23rd 2013 to August 4th. So that’s six weeks of pure fun, laffs and unbridled raw creativity.

Leslie: Now there is a big surprise folks. This year, there is going to be a price for the winner of the competition. You stand a chance of winning 10,000 naira from

M.Y: Yes that's right. 10k! Just like that.

Tosan Online is a site with the initiative to not only link the seller to his prospective buyer with all ease, but also get rid of all form of stress involved. So your stress becomes theirs. They also have very reasonable rates.

So visit today and start promoting your products. From cosmetic products to electronics and clothing. BRING IT ALL

Leslie: I also just thought of this. It also helps to promote designers and puts them in a better light thus promoting their business. Some of the feedback we got were pretty amazing, some of the celebs contacted some of these designers. It’s really beautiful when stuff like that happens.

M.Y: Some of these works shouldn't be on here as spoofs alone. These are the guys who will revolutionize a lot of things in Nollywood. So yeah. Get creative, put on your thinking caps…

Leslie: Better still, put on your laptops. Thinking caps won’t design the posters.

M.Y: The people know what I meant…

Leslie: Just had to put it out there…

M.Y: Put on your…laptops and get to designing. Anyways Here are a few examples of the kind of stuff we’re expecting so you know to come correct. Feel me?

M.Y: Like Braille brother. Like Braille. And to view a full gallery of previous years entries, follow this link.

Leslie: The event is organized by Pixel Ninjas Guild  and proudly supported by Sodas & Popcorn and Eventiso

So what are you waiting for??? If you're an artist....graphic artist, please go ahead and send your designs! You never know....your work may be used by one of them celebs *wink*
Check out some past funny!!! LOL!!!!

Ahoy London!

I used to think London was a small city because of its size on the world map. Wrong! With the organized train stations and bus routes, you can tell that London is BIG! I admire their organized transportation system. Honestly, you can't get lost in London! While in London, whether for business or pleasure, check out some tour sites just to have a feel of the city.

London Eye & London Eye River Cruise - You can enjoy a thrilling 40 minutes "spin" ride (don't worry, you wouldn't feel the spin!) on this fascinating circular drive where you can sightsee almost the whole of London! You can also take a crusie trip on the river Thames to sightsee around London too. Don't forget to check out the 4D movie experience of the London Eye after your ride.

Madame Tussauds London - This is a must see tourist attraction. Madame Tussauds can be found in the following major cities around the world Amsterdam, Bangkok, Berlin, Hong Kong, Shanghai, New York, Las Vegas, Hollywood, Washington D.C, Vienna and Blackpool. It is famous for recreating famous people and celebrities in wax. It combines the glitz and glamours with incredible history and over 300 wax figures. I got to take pictures with the Royal family, some celebrities, some Disney and Marvel characters and some great men and women.

Sea Life London Aquarium - This is a magical underwater world which is filled with amazing sea creatures. You get to see sharks, jelly fish, turtles, seahorses, star fish, crocodiles, frogs and Penguins! Infact there are so many creatures you 'd see that you've never heard about. Beautiful tourist site.

You can also do your own London City Tour. Did some sightseeing at the following sites:

Big Ben - One of my must see tourist monuments, this big town clock has been there for 153 years. Just had to see it!
 That's Big Ben!

Buckingham Palace - This is the royal residence of the Her Majesty the Queen. Was told that the Palace is open for tourist when the Royal Family are outside London for holidays. Lots of tourists look foward to watching ''Changing the Guards'' at Buckingham Palace which encompasses of a colourful British pageantry involving new guards exchanging duty with the old guards. The ceremony lasts about 45 minutes and usually takes place daily at 11:30 from May until the end of July and on alternate days for the rest of the year, weather permitting.

Trafalgar Square - This is a public space and tourist attraction which is guarded by four lion statues at its base. There are a number of statues and sculptures in the square which displays pieces of contemporary art. The square is also used for political demonstration and community gatherings, such as the celebration of New Year's Eve. I was told that pigeons usually gather around there and you can feed them. Unfortunately I read that feeding of pigeons were banned because their droppings disfigured the statues and were conisdered a health hazard. I was so looking foward to feeding them pigeons *sad*

Tower of London - Unfortunatley I could not visit this place. Though this place has a grim reputation as a place of torture, death and imprisonment, within the Tower's mighty walls, you will also discover a royal palace, a powerful fortress, a menagerie (a diverse collection like "The Crown Jewels'') and much more.
Tower of London
London Football Stadium - To top up our tour, we had to visit a football stadium and what better place to go than Arsenal's Emirate Stadium! My husband is a die-hard Arsenal fan so I've been initiated!

If you've been to London and you have not visited some of these tour sites I just mentioned above, you have not truly experienced London. The good thing is that you could mix and match four top London attractions and enjoy great savings. Other tour sites you'd enjoy are Legoland Discovery Centres,Tower Bridge, Railway Tours (There is a place called Nene Valley Railyway. If you watched 'Thomas the Tank Engine' while growing up, you'd see a replica of him there *smiles*), London Zoo (the world's oldest scientific zoo), London Dungeon (I hear its spooky!) and many more.
A shout out to the couple that made us visit London for their wedding..."Happy Married Life" to my brother-in-law, Sola and his beautiful wife, my new sister-in-law, Dola! Wishing you both the best marriage brings!
