Operation STOP KONY 2012!!!

Yesterday, my "Partner-in-Crime", Boma and I were discussing the ills that are happening in the Northern part of Nigeria - the killings and the bomb attacks in Jos, Kaduna, Abuja...how we, Nigerians are not concerned about what is happening, especially we in the Southern part. Most of us feel that beacuse it's not happening here (the South) "So why should I care? I don't know anyone in the north, so why should I bother?" Every week, it has become a "normal norm" to read in the newspapers topics such as "ONE KILLED IN KADUNA BOMB EXPLOSION (THE PUNCH ONLINE)". And yet, we Nigerians don't seem to care. Very sad. And we want a better system...sigh...

Coincidentally, we had a class yesterday titled MEDIA & COMMUNITY RELATIONS. To introduce the new course, the lecturer played the below "27 minutes documentary". Please take a few minutes and watch...you would be impressed. You'd see the POWER OF THE MEDIA in play:

KONY 2012!!

So who is KONY? Joseph Rao Kony is the head of the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA), a Ugandan rebel group. The LRA operates in Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Central African Republic and South Sudan. Kony orders the abduction of children to become child-sex slaves and child soldiers. As documented by Wikipedia, an estimated 66,000 children became soldiers and two million people have been internally displaced since 1986. In 2005, Kony was indicted for war crimes and crimes against humanity by the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Netherlands, but has evaded capture. Right now, the plan is to get him caught and arrested in 2012.

If we, Nigerians, could learn from this video clip, we could do alot of good for our nation, most especially with the Boko Haram and Jos sagas. The government is not the only problem....the people are....WE ARE! It's time we stood up for OURSELVES! The government is not just the leaders we put to run our system, we also are the government! I love how the Invisible Child Group were able to get people from the grassroot to fight this course. At first , the leaders were not ready to help, but when they saw the passion of the PEOPLE they had no choice but to comply and assist.

Our dear Naija NEEDS that change...that PASSION...the ZEAL to change and make our nation a better place.

Hagaizo Teen Car Wash

For one to achieve a mission, one needs to take action!

So last week Sunday 25th March and this Sunday 1st April, my church teenagers, teen coordinators and I decided to do a CAR WASH to raise funds for our teenage department musical instruments. The ones we have are old and rusty and definitely need a change!

Washing the cars was fun and hectic. With the hot sun and sometimes little drizzle of rain, the car wash was interesting.

Find below some photos. Enjoy!
