How do I start this article??? You need to have been there to understand why the program was so enriching, fulfilling and eventful!!! Vacation Bible Study in Nazareth, where Jesus was a kid was a blast! Am so glad I participated. It was as exciting as VBS Egypt 2010!
This time I played two roles, as the Celebration Leader (again!!!!lol!), where I lead the children and adults in praise, worship and dance and as the Dye Shopkeeper, where I taught the children how to design their own tie-dye materials. They were both exciting roles! Infact, I believe they were the best roles ever....lol!
This year we had about a hundred (100) children compared to about twenty-somthing children last year! I was so glad! The news is spreading that VBS is a wonderful event to get your children invovled in! The children learnt about Jesus' life when he was a kid. There were twelve tribes, which were the twelve tribes of Israel namely: Judah,Levi,Naphtali,Reuben,Simeon,Zebulun,Asher,Dan,Gad,Issachar,Joseph and Benjamin. Each child was placed in a trible with Tribe Leaders and Tribe Assistances, where each tribe was identified with a colour.
For each day, the program started with Celebration time. Then the children had their Tribe time, where each tribe sat separately to discuss the theme for the day. Then the other exciting event was the Market place, where the children went shopping in places such as the food market, bead shop, carpentry shop, wool shop, rock quarry shop, dye shop, synagogue school and farm place. Other programs included playground time, visiting Mary's place, the mother of Jesus, who told her story of how Jesus was born, while her neighbour/friend, Eunice, tried to deceive the 'poor' children that Jesus was not God's son...lol! Later in the day, the children went back to their tribes for another Tribe time to discuss what they had done and learnt for the day. Each day always ended with Celebration time...the most exciting time of the program! *wink*
Honestly, I can't wait for next year where we would be 'heading' to "Babylon: Daniel's Courage in Captivity" !!! If you're in Lagos, Nigeria around August 2012, please make sure your children attend this one week of fun with God and His people!!!Also, you can voluntee...just buzz me! *smiling*
Oh, by the way, my name during the program was "Aunty Hadara". 'Hadara' means 'Beautiful' in Hebrew. *batting my eyes*
